Sporting injury?

Podiatrist’s are foot and ankle specialists who have studied and obtained a degree in Podiatric Medicine. At the Vale Foot Clinic, along with general foot conditions, we treat musculoskeletal injuries of the lower limb. With up to 3 and a half times your bodyweight being put through your feet when you run, it isn’t a surprise that 1 in 10 of us report that we have painful feet.

Here at The Vale Foot Clinic, we can help you with:

  • Flat foot induced knee pain
  • Shin pain
  • Calf pain
  • Achilles injuries
  • Forefoot pain
  • Heel pain
  • Ankle pain

In order to diagnose your condition, one of our musculoskeletal podiatrists will conduct a thorough biomechanical assessment. This will include a range of biomechanical tests, including slow motion gait analysis, which will aid the Podiatrist in deciding the treatment path that you shall follow. We then diagnose, treat and rehabilitate the injury to get you back to competing, aiming for a PB or resuming your training.

Our rehabilitation programmes often include the use of an orthotic. Foot orthoses (commonly called “orthotics” or “insoles”) are devices that when inserted into shoes provide support for the foot, ankle, knee and lower back by redistributing ground reaction forces acting on the foot joints while standing, walking or running.

Our musculoskeletal podiatrists understand how frustrating sporting injuries can be. One of the podiatrists working at our clinic is a keen sports person himself and has suffered many injuries over his time on the basketball court. He has played professional basketball and currently plays for the Welsh senior basketball team. He and everybody else in our musculoskeletal podiatry team are extremely committed to help you achieve your sporting and physical goals.
